Padma Vibhushan Sonal Mansingh, is an unparalleled representative of the ancient but ever new art/dance traditions of India. A leading exponent of Odissi and Bharata Natyam, she has the honor of being appointed the chairman of the Sangeet Natak Academy (India's premiere institution for art). Professor Robert Thurman, is the Jey Tsong Khapa Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University. He is a prolific translator and writer of both scholarly and popular works, including Tsong Khapa's Speech of Gold: Reason and Enlightenment in the Central Philosophy of Tibet, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, Essential Tibetan Buddhism, and his most recent, Inner Revolution: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Real Happiness. Professor Thurman is not only a scholar, but a champion of the preservation of Tibetan culture. In 1987, he co-founded Tibet House, a nonprofit institution devoted to preserving the living culture of Tibet, and continues to serve as the organization's President.
Beverly Emmons, has designed lighting for Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theater, dance and opera both in the US and abroad. Her Broadway credits include among others, Jekyll and Hyde, The Heiress, Chronicles of a Death Foretold, The Elephant Man, Stepping Out and Amadeus, for which she won a Tony Award. Ms. Emmons' work in the dance field include lighting design for Lucinda Child, Trisha Brown, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham. She has seven Tony nominations, the 1976 Lumen Award, 1984 and 1986 Bessies and a 1980 Obie for Distinguished Lighting. She was also the former Artistic Director of the Lincoln Center Institute, where she was responsible for selecting the live repertory of dance, theatre and music for students and teachers throughout the metropolitan area.
Zizi Mueller, an accomplished flutist, is the Artistic Director and founder of Mosaic, a unique chamber music group that strives to expand the audience for chamber music. The ensemble has performed throughout the country, and commissioned and recorded new works championing contemporary music while maintaining a broad repertoire theatres and festivals throughout Europe and the United States and won the Artists International Competition as soloist. She has also worked extensively in theater, acting as Musical Director for the LaMama ETC Company and for Joseph Papp's Midsummer Night's Dream and many other theatrical productions.
Monique A. Witt, earned her Ph.D. and J.D. from Yale University and studied at The Western New England Psychoanalytic Institute. Her doctoral thesis was in psycholinguistics and linguistic phenomenology, fields in which she has written. After teaching on the Yale English faculty, she practiced international finance law in New York (restructuring Latin American debt and doing project finance). She currently writes, teaches and lectures. Recently, she has participated in the West Point Seminars: 2003 Business Alliances; 2004 Doing Business in the Middle East; and 2005 Emerging Risks in Iraq. She has recently worked on several American Bar Association publications, including: Checkpoints in Cyberspace, Directors Guide to Data Governance,and Directors Digital Fiduciary Duties. Current works in progress include a long poem and collection of essays on the media.
Navina Haidar Haykel holds the position of Associate Curator in the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, Department of Islamic Art. She is
currently working on the reinstallation of the Islamic Galleries at the
Met. She has written scholarly articles on Indian and Persian paintings
among other topics.
Teddy Yoshikami is the Manager of Public Programs at the American Museum
of Natural History. "Our programs today give people from various
cultures an opportunity to speak for themselves and from their own
perspective, and have broadened to collaborations a more regular basis."
Anshuman Jain has been a member of the General Executive Committee of Deutsche Bank AG since 2002. He is currently the managing director and head of global markets at Deutsche Bank. Prior to this appointment he was a managing director of Merrill Lynch in New York. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (with Honors) in economics from Delhi University in 1983 and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Massachusetts in 1985.
